A Public Adjuster represents the interest of the insurance policyholder against their insurance company. Public Adjusters are experts in the preparation, presentation, and negotiation of insurance claims in order to maximize and expedite the policyholder’s claim. A Public adjuster works solely for you, the insured, and no one else, making the claim process seem much more simplistic. There are three types of adjusters licensed by the State of Florida:

  • Insurance Company Adjuster – is employed by an insurance company to represent the insurance company in dealing with your insurance claim. The insurance company adjusters main responsibility if to protect the interests of the insurance company.
  • Independent Adjuster – is hired by insurance companies to represent them in dealing with you, your loss and damages. The  independent adjusters main responsibility is to protect the interests of the insurance company.
  • Public Adjuster – is the only Adjuster specifically licensed by the State of Florida to represent you, the Insured. The Public Adjusters main responsibility is to protect you and your interests in claims against a loss with the Insurance Company.

After a loss occurs, the insurance policy requires you, the policyholder, to put together a claim of all related damages and negotiate those damages with the insurance company’s adjuster. The adjusters from the insurance company are both experts at policy interpretation and loss assessment. very few people have the knowledge or background to prepare, present and negotiate claims against these adjusters. As a Public Adjuster, we have both the skill and background in assessing losses, reviewing and interpreting your policy, and negotiating for you, the insured, with the insurance company adjusters to reach the most favorable settlement.

When a loss occurs to your property or business who is on your side? A Public Adjuster is your advocate in the dealings with the insurance company, as well as guiding you through the many important decisions that must be made following a catastrophic loss. We level the playing field by bringing in our consultants (Building, Contents Inventory Service, Engineers, Accountants, etc.) to negotiate a favorable settlement for you, the insured. We guide you through the claim process, preparing and presenting your claim of damages to the insurance company in the best way to benefit you.

Following a loss, the insurance company seeks to deny coverage and/or minimize your claim as much as possible. Again, the adjusters on the insurance companies side are experts at policy interpretation and loss valuation. You need someone on your side who has the skill and background to compete with the companies adjusters to ensure that your claim is maximized and covered. Where there is coverage, we will find it by taking the time to tediously review your insurance policy and go through the confounding verbiage of your insurance policy.

Our public adjusters will charges a small percentage of the settlement for the services provided to you. We are not paid until you are paid. There are no upfront fees for our services. We work very hard during the process; the best is that, if there is no recovery there is no fees for you.

No. Based on our years of experience, we know that meeting with your insurance company without the representation of a licensed public adjuster will most likely result in frustration, disappointment, dissatisfaction, and discontent.

Public insurance adjusters are experts in the details and language of insurance policies, as well as filing and adjusting claims. They commonly have prior experience in construction (and other related fields) and use sophisticated software to undergo an independent evaluation of a client’s property loss. Public adjusters aren’t just better equipped than the average policyholder to estimate the costs incurred from a property loss — they know exactly how to log and submit initial and supplemental claims and do this for a policyholder. The process of evaluating, completing and submitting a claim for a policyholder is remarkably exhaustive.

It can take as little as a month and up to a few years to settle your property claim. It truly depends on the type of loss you have suffered. There are other variables as well that affect the amount of time it will take to settle your claim. They include your policy coverage, the insurance company claims procedures, and how long it takes to gather estimates and prepare documentation of your loss. By law, all companies, except for Citizens Insurance, are required to pay or deny claims within 90 days.

Please keep in mind that this is the initial payout. The process to get more payouts can take longer. Sunshine Property Claims has the experience and knowledge to help expedite the process while maximizing your settlement.
